Early Childhood Music

Emily, Mary Ann’s daughter, continues to grow her mom’s program with some of her own twists. Our multi-sensory, age-appropriate curriculum will have your children reading music with their eyes, ears, and whole bodies! Each class is unique, and artfully tells a story through song, dance, drama, rhythm and rhyme. Live guitar, ukulele, piano & voice every week plus a ton of instruments for hands-on play. Come join a class and see why City Baby in NYC and San Francisco awarded our program “5 stars”!

Grades 1–3

Musical Theater · Grades 1–3

The Wizard of Oz Musical Theater Program introduces children to singing, acting, dancing, and theater through fun, creative games and storytelling. Students learn the show in a non-traditional way using activities like musical chairs, balloon games, improvisation, and imaginative play, making every rehearsal exciting and engaging.

Along the way, children build musicianship through recorder, drumming, rhythm, and music reading, while growing in confidence on stage. By performance day, they’re prepared, excited, and ready to shine in The Wizard of Oz!

This class is designed for incoming 1st through 3rd graders who are new to Emily Hall’s Musical Theater Program.

Full tuition for the class is $750. A first payment of $400 is due by August 15, with ongoing enrollment until the class is full.

Classes meet in two locations in Fairfield:

  • Wednesdays, 4:10pm–5:05pm — First Presbyterian Church of Fairfield, 2475 Easton Turnpike, Fairfield, CT 06825.
  • Thursdays, 4:15pm–5:15pm — Trinity Episcopal Church, 651 Pequot Ave, Southport, CT 06880.

“We are so incredibly grateful for Emily Hall and the Music for Children program. Our daughter's confidence has grown not only as a performer, but academically as well. Emily's program creates a safe place for theater newbies to take risks, explore their creativity, form new friendships, and have so much FUN while doing so. We are thrilled that Emily has fostered such a love for musical theater in our daughter and so many other children in our community. Bravo, Emily! We love you!”

About Emily

Emily Hall grew up surrounded by music, watching her mother teach from a small basement studio that would eventually become the award-winning Mary Ann Hall’s Music for Children program. Inspired from an early age, Emily went on to study voice at the prestigious Boston Conservatory, receiving formal training in opera before launching a professional career in musical theater.

While performing on Broadway and in national Broadway tours, Emily continued teaching her family’s beloved music program in New York City, blending world-class performance experience with a lifelong passion for music education. Throughout her career, she has worked alongside some of musical theater’s most celebrated artists, including Andrew Lloyd Webber (the legendary composer of The Phantom of the Opera and Cats), legendary director Hal Prince, Tony Award winners Kristin Chenoweth and Kelli O’Hara, Academy Award nominee Blythe Danner, and the late Treat Williams in a Stephen Sondheim production.

Today, as a mother of two young boys, Emily brings both professional expertise and a parent’s perspective to every class she teaches. She has recorded award-winning children’s albums recognized for their musical excellence and educational value while continuing the legacy of Mary Ann Hall’s Music for Children. With decades of teaching experience, a career on some of the world’s greatest stages, and a deep commitment to nurturing young minds through music, Emily is passionate about helping children develop confidence, creativity, and a lifelong love of music through joyful, engaging experiences.

Whether leading babies through their very first songs, inspiring preschoolers to discover rhythm and imagination, or helping young children build a lifelong appreciation for music, Emily’s classes are rooted in warmth, encouragement, and the belief that every child is inherently musical. Her unique combination of Broadway experience, conservatory training, and decades of hands-on teaching creates an unforgettable learning environment where children and families can sing, laugh, learn, and grow together!

In Their Words

There is truly no one on the planet quite like Miss Emily! She brings a magical energy that makes her the absolute perfect director for children’s theater.

Miss Emily has a clear creative vision and an incredible ability to help a group of young children see and believe in that vision too. Through her program, kids build confidence in public speaking, develop flexibility through improvisation, and learn how to express themselves on stage.

What makes her especially unique is how deeply she cares. Miss Emily leads with passion and heart, and every child in her shows knows how proud she is of their growth.

If my daughter could sign up for another show with Miss Emily tomorrow, she absolutely would!

I highly encourage any family with a child who loves singing, dancing, or acting to experience the special magic of this high-energy human who truly knows how to bring out confidence and talent in elementary-age children.
